Virtual workshop: Strengthening the integration of the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation in UN-Water’s work

CUNENE-200

In a virtual workshop hosted this week by OHCHR, various UN-Water Members and Partners discussed the development of a roadmap to strengthen the integration of the human rights to water and sanitation in UN-Water’s work.

Under OHCHR’s leadership, the forthcoming UN-Water Roadmap on the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation will be based on the principle that the realization of every person’s right to water and sanitation is critical to progress across the 2030 Agenda. The roadmap will reflect the four action pillars of the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework: engage, align, accelerate, account.

This week’s workshop was an important step in the development of the roadmap, building agreement in priority areas and on common strategies and tools for action, including country-level action to accelerate progress towards realizing SDG 6 by 2030.
