Too much and too little water in northern Ghana

In northern Ghana between the cities of Tamale and Bolgatanga, a stretch of land is completely cut off from the surrounding territory for several months every year, due to a combination of bad roads, incessant rain and flooding’s.

With too much water for part of the year, not enough during the rest, an irrigation technology may be the solution - capturing standing flood water in the rainy season, storing it underground, and then make it available for crop irrigation and domestic use in the dry season.
