IWMI provides rapid emergency response maps

International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has used satellite images which can penetrate cloud, providing a clear overview of areas affected by flooding. The images were then for example send directly to partners in response to requests for assistance.

Further, the use of satellite technology help guide relief efforts by better enabling state and district officials to pinpoint vulnerable populations and get an early indication of damage to crops. This is very valuable in relief operations and post-flood impact assessment.
