Geneva Water Dialogue - an interactive conversation

9C3A0212

On 1 July 2022, the Permanent Missions of the Netherlands, Tajikistan and Egypt host the “Geneva Water Dialogue” at the WMO Headquarters, Geneva.

The Geneva Water Dialogue is an interactive conversation that seeks to bring together Geneva-based stakeholders in response to the UNGA’s call to involve all relevant stakeholders to assess challenges and opportunities and support further action to implement water-related goals and targets under the International Decade for Action and the 2030 Agenda. The Dialogue presents an opportunity for multilateral Geneva to provide an input to the co-hosts and Secretariat of the UN 2023 Water Conference, whilst providing a platform for countries and organizations to collectively brainstorm about possible commitments for the Water Action Agenda, a key outcome document of the Water Conference in which stakeholders can voluntarily pledge commitments to get the world back on track to reaching SDG 6 and other water-related goals and targets.

The Dialogue will consist of a high-level opening session and panel on human rights, to be held at the level of Permanent Representatives, to be followed by two expert-level workshops on ‘water for peace’ and disaster risk reduction. The Dialogue is held with the support of World Meteorological Organization (WMO), UN-Water, UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR), UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and the Geneva Water Hub.
